With nearly 300 females playing football at Southside Eagles, the club is proud to have one of the highest female participation rates of any football club in Queensland.
Southside Eagles rapidly growing girls section offers a pathway for girls of all ages to compete at higher level divisional, as well as more social football competitions.
When do we play and train?
Girls football is played either on Saturday or Sunday depending on the age group and zonal scheduling, with a home and away ground format. Depending on your team, training is usually held Monday to Thursday, and the season runs from mid February to mid September each year.
How are teams selected?
U13 = U16 Girls Metro teams will undergo a trialing process where players are graded into appropriate teams based on skill level. The club will announce trial dates traditionally in January/February, and an experienced selection panel made of senior coaching will select teams for the subsequent season.
Social teams generally do not trial, you just have to register and you will be allocated to a team.
What Kit do I need?
All players must wear football boots, club socks, shorts and shin guards. The Club will provide game day shirts which are returned at the end of the season. A training shirt is provided at the start of the season.
Who coaches Girls Football?
Southside Eagles Girl’s teams have recently engaged a dedicated “Girls Director of Coaching” with the aim of implementing a tailored football program specifically for girls. With multiple FFA accredited coaches as well as dedicated volunteer coaches working within the girls program, the club is looking to progress in the world of womens/girls football.
