Dear southside Eagles Members,

As Christmas approaches and the year draws to a close, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful year we have had at Southside Eagles.

We have had an incredible year with some incredible achievements both as a club and a community here at Southside.

Just a few of my most proud moments in my first year as president of this incredible community include our Senior FQPL Women winning the grand final against Toowong in what was a drama filled final, the same team then went on to win the promotion play off and guide our club women’s program into FQPL-2 further providing an incredible pathway for the many young girls who aspire to play first team football at Eagles. Our U23 FQPL-1 Men won their grand final coming from 4th position to knock out some heavy hitters in Morten Bay and Brisbane strikers on their way to grand final glory. Our metro men’s and women’s teams outdid themselves reaching a record number of grand finals with 5 teams bringing home trophies for premierships or Grand finals. And our FQ Academy juniors had a stellar year with every team from U13 to U18 making finals and our U15 & U18 boys coming home with grand final silverware.

 

And although success on the field can be measured in wins and losses, for me the real success of Southside Eagles is measured in the endless good times and countless friendships forged and established year after year at this incredible community. My family have lived the “Southside Eagles” journey for the last 13 years and I have been blessed to have made many lifelong friends along the way, but more importantly I’ve watched my children grow up surrounded by so many fantastic friends in a healthy, supportive and diverse sporting, community environment and go from shy young 5yr olds, into confident young adults who understand and appreciate the value of the community around them, that is what success looks like to me.

So thank you all for all your efforts and participation in what was a stellar 2024 season, everyone had their own role to play in the season and for that I thank you.
