Under 9 – Under 12 MiniRoos:

Our Under 9 years (born 2016), Under 10 year (born 2015), Under 11 years (born 2014) and Under 12 years (born 2013) play in the Football Queensland Metro Miniroos competition and the Football Queensland Academy (FQA) competition.

Under 9 – Under 12 teams are graded into different levels. The graded levels are as follows:

  • Quokkas: This level is well-suited to players who have basic skills of the game, are looking to have fun and may require assistance to develop their skills on the pitch.
  • Wallabies: This level is well-suited to players who have played the sport previously, have good knowledge of the rules and sound performance with minimal instruction from their coach. Wallaby teams will be formed during the trial process and fully formed teams may request entry as a Wallaby team with the approval of the club.
  • Kangaroos: This level is for players with advanced skills who are looking for a challenge and development pathways into FQ Academy. Matches are played with more speed, skill and tactics. Players are required to trial for entry into a Kangaroo team and there are still limited vacancies for 2025. See below for more information.
  • Football Queensland Academy (FQA): This is an elite pathway program for competitive players. Entry into Football Queensland Academy (FQA) teams is by trial only. Trials are held in term 4 each year. Entry to these teams is now closed but all players will be invited to trial in term 4 2025.

How to Register:

In February and March, we will process almost 1400 player registrations and sort all players into 110 teams across all age groups ready for the season kick-off.  It is a mammoth task. While we try our best, it is not always possible to accommodate all requests.

Here’s how the registration process will work for QUOKKA TEAMS:

Step 1: Expression of Interest

From January 9th, 2025 to February 9th, 2025, we will open ONLINE expressions of interest for the MiniRoos 9–12-year-old 2025 season for QUOKKAS.

You may submit an expression of interest for:

  • A full team complete with coach and manager. Note: that you must have a list of each player’s name and date of birth as well as each player’s parent/guardian name, email and phone number.

Click here to submit a QUOKKA team expression of interest.

  • An individual player for us to allocate to a team. Note: You can include the names of a couple of friends they would like to be in a team with, and list your child’s school. We will try our best to place children in a team with other children they know but we may not be able to accommodate all requests.

Click here to submit a QUOKKA individual expression of interest.

Expressions of interest can be submitted online or you can attend one of our Sign-On Days at the Bulimba Memorial Park Clubhouse:

  • Saturday 1st February, 2025 from 8am to 12pm
  • Saturday 8th February, 2025 from 8am to 12pm

Step 2: Team Formation

Between February 10th, 2025 to February 24th, 2025, Southside Eagles staff will sort players into teams based on Expressions of Interest. Please be patient while we complete this mammoth task 😊

Step 3: Player Registration

By February 25th, 2025 we will announce all complete teams. We will email all parents/guardians the name of the team the players has been allocated to, the names of all the players allocated to that team, and the names and contact details of the nominated parent/guardian so you can start to make contact with each other.

You will then be asked to formally register and pay registration fees through the Squadi platform. Squadi is Football Queensland’s official registration platform. Please note that you should not register in Squadi until your team is finalised as there is a no refund policy.

Step 4: Attend Muster Day

On Sunday March 9, we invite all players and their families to come down to Memorial Park for Muster Day. This is an opportunity to meet your team, kick a ball around and pick up your playing kit and equipment.

Step 5: Start Playing!

Pre-Season games Saturday 22nd March and Saturday 29th March.

Official season games Saturday 26th April to Saturday 13th September.

Here’s how the registration process will work for KANGAROO AND WALLABY TEAMS:

Step 1: Expression of Interest for Trials

Trials for the remaining Kangaroo team vacancies and all Wallaby teams will take place between February 10th and 20th.

Submit an expression of interest for a KANGAROO or WALLABY team here to receive more information.

Step 2: Notification of Trial Outcome and Registration

Soon after trials, you will be notified if the player will be placed in a Kangaroo or Wallaby team. Players may also be placed in Quokka teams.

We will email all parents/guardians the name of the team the player has been allocated to, the names of all the players allocated to that team, and the names and contact details of the nominated parent/guardian so you can start to make contact with each other.

You will then be asked to formally register and pay registration fees through the Squadi platform. Squadi is Football Queensland’s official registration platform. Please note that you should not register in Squadi until your team is finalised as there is a no refund policy.

Important:

Changes and Special Requests:

From February 25th to May 3rd, 2025,  you may request changes to your child’s team by submitting a change request form. Please note that change requests may take 5 business days or more to process and while we try our best to accommodate every request, sometimes it is simply not possible. All change requests must be made in writing via the Change Request Form and all changes must be agreed upon by relevant coaches and managers.
